PTSA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GRADUATING SENIORS

The BTWHSPVA PTSA will award a one-time award to selected 2010 graduating Seniors of $500-$2000. The award may be used for tuition and related fees and/or textbooks at any accreditied university, college, or art school of the student's choice. Recipients must provide proof of enrollment for a minimum of 12 credit hours before the funds will be disbursed.

Selection of scholarship award recipients will be guided by the following criteria:

  1. Recognized for excellence in chosen cluster.
  2. Grade average of 80 or above.
  3. Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a cluster teacher, the other may be from another adult who knows you well but is not a relative.
  4. Demonstrated leadership as a student of Booker T. Washington
  5. Demonstrated involvement in service to both the school and the community.
  6. Completion of an essay.

All applications will be due on May 6. 2011.  Recipients will be announced at the Senior Awards Ceremony near the end of May, 2011.

Any incomplete applications will not be considered. Please print legibly or type the application. Return all required documents and this form to your Counselor.

PTSA SUMMER ENRICHMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Parent Teacher Student Association is pleased to announce that it is providing $2,000 to each cluster coordinator to be used for students who are planning to attend artistic enrichment programs during the summer. These sponsorships may be used in all or part for enrollment and related fees to attend artistic programs of the student's choice with the approval of their respective Cluster Coordinator. Recipients will be chosen by Cluster Coordinators and teachers in consultation with the BTWHSPVA PTSA Scholarship Committee Chairperson. Recipients will be required to provide documentation of enrollment and/or expenses incurred. An evaluation of the summer program attended will be solicited in the fall from each student receiving a sponsorship award.
Selection of scholarship award recipients will be guided by the following criteria:

  1. Sponsorships are available to only those students completing their Sophomore or
    Junior years in school year 2010-11.
  2. Recognized for achievement in chosen cluster.
  3. Grade point average (GPA) of 80 or above.
  4. Priority will be given to students with financial need.

All Applications must be received by Friday, May 6, 2011. Return all required documents and this form to your Cluster Coordinator.
